A Level Student Booster - Boolean Logic (Pre-event materials)

In this online session you will learn about Boolean Logic. The session is aimed at A-level students in Year 12, and is a broad overview of the topic, taking students from the basic gates and truth tables, through expressions, circuits, the half-adder, algebra and Karnaugh maps. By attending this event, you will:

  • Understand why computers use Boolean logic
  • Recap all six logic gate symbols, their truth tables, and operator precedence
  • Draw a circuit from a truth table or problem statement
  • Write an expression from a circuit and vice versa
  • Overview of the binary half-adder circuit
  • Overview of Boolean algebra and using it to simplify an expression
  • Overview of Karnaugh maps and using it to simplify an expression.
