Fabulous Folds
In this activity children work scientifically to investigate the strength of a range of folds that can be used to join two pieces of paper together. The context for the investigation is that of joining materials together in metal packaging. When the top is fixed onto a can, the two edges are folded, interlinked and then pressed together. This is an easy and effective way of joining. Children think about the different variables that may be changed, then plan and carry out their investigation using the planning sheet and paper basket template provided. This resource has been provided by the Metal Packaging Manufacturers Association, (MPMA).
