Leap to It!

This collection of forty three investigations, games and puzzles aimed at students aged nine to fourteen. [b]The investigations contained in this booklet include:[/b] number machine investigations, line segments, musical madness, Egyptian fractions, exploring plant growth, circles, number patterns in area and perimeter in a series of growing crosses, size of paths surrounding a pond, properties of consecutive numbers, time to taken to climb greasy pole when the person rests and slips back, stick puzzle, rectangles, stacking cans in triangular and pyramid formations, shortest routes for postmen, number patterns on a calendar, spiral patterns, 3 dimensional noughts and crosses, drawing squares, drawing triangles, multiplication squares, surrounding triangles, powerful numbers explores powers of two, L-shapes. These activities were compiled by teachers on a course at the City of Manchester College during 1983 and 1984. During the course students from all the participating schools came into the College to use them.
