Hypothesis testing 1: the Wilcoxon rank sum test

This resource from the Continuing Mathematics project is made up of three units covering hypothesis testing.

The first unit covers the Wilcoxon Rank Sum Test and aims to teach the use of a non-parametric test for assessing the significance of the difference between two independent samples. In this context, the objectives for this unit are that students will be able to set up a suitable Null Hypothesis, possess an understanding of 'significance' and of 'significance level', use tables of critical values and interpret 'significant' and 'non-significant' values.
