Investigation Bank Books - Books 11 to 20
These investigation booklets from Eigen publications include shape joining investigations but mainly support number skills and the development of number properties as well as encouraging students to be systematic and to look for patterns.
* Prime numbers 1 investigations include prime number positions on grids and number spirals, sums of primes and final digit consecutive differences
* Prime numbers 2 contains investigations including ‘superprimes’ and algebraic formulae which generate primes – up to a point!
* Threes and fives investigates which numbers can be made by combining multiples 3 and 5 and other pairs of numbers.
* Digit chains explores ideas associated with simple number chains.
* Joining squares explores polyominoes up to hexominoes as are squares joined ‘corner-to-corner’.
* Joining triangles explores joining equilateral triangles to produce polyiamonds from diamonds up to hexiamonds.
* 3 x 3 Grids contains investigations based on a 3 by 3 grid which practice a lot of simple additions and also encourage being systematic.
* Think of a number 1 encourages students to work out why a sequence of operations produces the results that it does.
* Think of a number 2 contains more sequences which produce surprising results to analyse.
* Divisor game practices rapid recognition of divisors and common divisors of numbers found in a ten by ten multiplication square.
The booklets are largely independent apart from the two obvious pairs.
